This year, as we embark on a collective fasting journey, let’s come together with others to form a community that rejuvenates our hearts and minds. We invite you to participate in this year's Fast. Spirit Govern Thoughts
Monday January 13, 2025
Our thoughts create our world, but how are those thoughts formed, and what do we allow to influence them?

Today's Scripture
- 1 Corinthians 2:13-16 (NIV)
- This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, ‘Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct Him?’ But we have the mind of Christ."
- Additional Scripture: Romans 8:5-6
Devotion
We tend to focus a lot on how we and others act, but do we take time to determine the source of what leads to our actions? Over what parts of us have we ceded control?
In the passage from Romans, we see a contrast of being governed by the carnal mind, the flesh, or being governed by wisdom, the Spirit of God.
One is focused on self, and the other is focused on God. One leads to death; the other leads to life and peace. One rejects that which is true. The other accepts that we need instruction.
Praise be to the Lord that we have been given an undeserved gift that reveals the secrets of heaven through the mind of Christ! We have the greatest Professor the universe has and will ever know.

Prayer Points
- Take a moment to ask the Spirit to evaluate your heart.

- Pray that the Spirit will give you the strength and humility to lay down control and surrender to the mind of Christ.
- Pray against the division in our world, country and churches. Ask the Spirit for an outpouring of love and wisdom that will guide us into unity and compassion.
- Take a moment to acknowledge the weight of the glory of God as you rest in His presence. Let it transform you into the beloved image of His Son.
- Ask God to increase your intimacy with Jesus, that your desire for Him and the things of Him would grow.
